Beach!

We're here!! A six hour trip ended up taking us about nine hours yesterday. We stopped halfway and spent about three hours in Augusta, GA. We walked around Target and went to lunch. This gave Carlee Scott some time to burn off energy. The rest of the trip was a breeze. We spent last night playing with cousins and enjoying some family time. We hope to make it down to the beach soon!

A-Town

Yep, we're in Atlanta! We are at Uncle Bruce and Aunt Gayle's beautiful home. The children are asleep and we are packing/repacking/sorting for the remainder of our travels tomorrow. I couldn't resist using the wireless internet to update you all. We rolled out of our driveway at 3:45 a.m. this morning and pulled into B&G's driveway 18 hours later. I have never driven so far and long in one day. The day didn't start off well. I woke up with a migraine, but hoped it would subside. By mid-afternoon, it was still going strong. Thankfully, I doubled up on my prescription medicine (which is allowed, don't worry!) and it finally went away. It was a little scary doing that, considering a side effect is drowsiness. The migraine was starting to affect my vision so I had to do something. It worked great. Driving separately was such a drag, though. I kept thinking about how much more enjoyable the whole thing would have been if we were together. Thank goodness for walky-talkys (or "talk phones," as Carlee Scott called them). Both kids had a rough day, but that was probably made worse by my pounding head. I didn't handle most situations well. Of the 18 hours, Carlee Scott only slept for about 1 hour total. Last year, she slept almost the entire trip. What a difference a year makes! Owen slept most of the time, but had some tummy (and diaper) issues that kept us on our toes. With two little ones, it felt like we were constantly stopping. We were so relieved to finally make it into Atlanta, only to find out that our exit was closed. My cell phone had died and I had this awful feeling that Will and I were going to get separated and our WT's wouldn't reach. I pictured myself with two kids in downtown Atlanta at night...lost! Not a good picture. Will acted quickly and we eventually found our way here. Whew, I am totally pooped! Even through the exhaustion, I am excited to be on the East Coast and only 5-6 more hours away from our final destination. The word on the street is that Uncle Bruce and Aunt Gayle's condo at Kiawah is getting wireless internet on Tuesday. Cross your fingers!!! There may be lots of beach posts coming your way!

What A Week!

Sorry for the lack of posting this week! My first week not working has been full of...WORK! It's a whole different kind of work, though. I taught in one of the preschool classrooms every day as a part of our Vacation Bible School at church. At one point, we had 12 two year olds! What a drastic change from what I had been used to doing on a daily basis. My two year old is one thing, but a whole room of them?! Wow! Thankfully, our kiddos were absolutely fabulous and we loved spending time with them each day. Tonight (or tomorrow, actually), we are leaving to make the trek across country to meet up with Will's family at Kiawah Island in South Carolina (Go Clemson - my old stomping ground). We're planning to leave at 3am so please pray for us (and the kids!). We're driving tandem since Will has to leave from the beach and do some Army training. Our goal is to make it to Atlanta tomorrow night. I think we can do it, as long as the traffic is okay and the kids cooperate. I've already packed a cooler with food, so hopefully our stops will be quick. I do not know how much access I will have to blog while at the beach but please know that I will surely do my best to throw some beachy pics up here as soon as I can! Take care!

We have a yard!

We finally have grass!! It's so pretty. All we're missing now are two small trees that will be planted alongside the brick next to the garage. Also, the shrubs are babies so just picture them twice the size. There's also crape myrtle on the far left but you can barely see it.

Carlee Scott's Prayer Tonight

They just keep getting better and better...

"Thank you, God, for my friends, Who's The Boss, orange, Owen, and Kit."

Either my child has been watching 80's sitcoms or we obviously misunderstood what she was saying.

Update

Well, we finished the living room and kitchen, and plotted the plans for the landscaper, but I'm too tired to take pictures! Besides, my camera battery died and is recharging. I'll take pictures tomorrow and post them. Nighty night!

Moving In

It's day #6 of having our household goods and we are so close to being fully moved in. By Thursday night, all boxes were unpacked and broken down. Then last night, we stayed outside until 11 p.m. getting the garage and attic in order. All we have to do now is hang things on the walls and find things to fill the "open" spaces. This morning, we finished the kids' rooms and the playroom. Tonight, we hope to finish the living room, kitchen, and master bedroom. The bathrooms will be finished in July sometime. It's time to update both of those areas and I plan on shopping when I'm in VA next month. So that's the story. We're almost done! Not too bad considering all this progress only took place from 7-11 each night.

Thank you all for the sweet wishes and words regarding my new role as a stay at home mom. It's definitely unknown territory for me, so please pray that I adjust well! Please also pray for the children, especially Carlee Scott. Pulling her out of the school she loves, away from the teachers she adores, and away from the friends she has spent her days with since 6 weeks old weighs heavily on my heart. Hopefully, she'll find Owen and me to be good company:)

Here are some photos of the kids' rooms and the playroom. If we can get the rest done tonight, I'll post pics of those too. Oh, and the fence is finished! The sod/landscaping begins Monday!

(In case you're wondering, the smiley faces are place holders for Owen's 6m, 9m, and 12m photos)
